Which route to take? Tapah or Simpang Pulai?

Tapah - CH
- shorter drive time if you're driving from the south (KL)
- get to experience the "real" highland driving.
- can stop by at Lata Iskandar waterfall and dip your feet in the water
- wave to the aborigine kids along the road
- can be a very long drive during the holiday season especially when traffic load is high. Even worse if there are heavy vehicles heading up at the same time.

Simpang Pulai - CH
- shorter drive if youre coming from the north.
- best route to take during the peak seasons (due to the high traffic on the Tapah road).
- excellent road condition
- great view of the surrounding mountains

Is there a car rental service in Cameron Highlands?

No. There is none.

How long does it take to drive up to Cameron Highlands?

Kuala Lumpur - about 3.5 hours
Penang - about 3.5 hours
Johor Baru - about 7.5 hours
Singapore - about 8 hours.

Mobile phone coverage.

Mobile phone coverage is only available in and around towns. There is limited coverage along the main road areas between the towns. There is no or very limited coverage all along the way from Tapah - Ringlet & Simpang Pulai - Kg.Raja.

Available operators are Maxis (012,017), Celcom (013,019) & Digi (016).

The following banks can be found in Cameron Highlands:

Maybank - Tanah Rata - (It also operates a money changer which is open 7 days a week)
HSBC - Tanah Rata
Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) - Tanah Rata
Hong Leong Bank - Tanah Rata
Public Bank - Brinchang
Southern Bank - Ringlet.

Banks are open Mondays through Fridays and generally only between 9.00am to 4.30pm. All banks above have automatic teller machines to cater for after-hours transactions.
