My family and I went to Cameron Highland last November. We took the Titiwangsa tours: Leisure Tour in the morning and Agro Delight Tour in the afternoon.
I expected more in-depth experience in Agro Delight Tour, since the price is RM65 (compared to RM25 for Leisure Tour). But at last both of the tours ended up more or less the same, in term of experience, both are like shopping tours. So I think Leisure Tour is more worth of the money.
In the morning, they picked us up from our hotel right on time and everything went on nicely, they used a 4WD to bring only our family to all the places.
In the afternoon, we had lunch near their office, and waited for the Argo Delight Tour. They used a van to pick about 10 people from different hotels around CH. The bad thing happened. One participant didn't show up, and everyone in the van waited for approximately 45 mins before the tour guide decided not to wait for him. The tour started at 3.15 pm.
We went to the flower nursery and another bad thing happened. The van was trapped on the way out from the farm because of raining, a short distance of road was flooded. I asked the tour guide: is this common? He said yes, especially in the monsoon season. So you should expect this if you are going near the end of year. Another 45 mins was wasted and the rest of the tour went like a rush shopping tour.
Before I forget, the strawberry farm with so-call "self picking allowed", was actually no self picking allowed. And we found there was in fact no "mature" strawberry to pick. This is understandable, since so many tourists are allowed to pick...
One destination (Chinese Village) was canceled because running out of time. I told the boss and he did not believe it. And of course no refund of money, that was not their fault. I think you should expect these common “undesirables” when joining a group tour. Unless you are traveling at your own, then you can blame nobody.
Finally we all went to a steamboat dinner. The dinner is ok, but don't expect it to be sumptous. Most of the food was vegetable from CH, good for your health. And it was not buffet style, but you can request for more rice, vegetable, but not meat and prawns, haha.
Oh yah, another bad thing. On the first day we went up to CH from KL, we took a VIP coach from Puduraya, which was included in the tour package. The coach which was supposed to depart at 1pm, was late until 2.30pm. The coach conductor, which is a small company at Puduraya, explained that the delay was due to breakdown of the coach. But I guessed they were trying to combine “two into one” to save cost...
And one thing to add, I found out the boss himself actually doing the reply when I called or emailed the company. Good thing is he knows everything. Bad thing is it is a bit messy. He messed up the details of my booking a few times, maybe he was too busy. And the surcharge is RM50 for school holidays as well, not only for public holidays. Actually it depends on the hotels.
If you have a car, I think you can go to most of the places yourself. Majority of the tourists who join the tours are foreigners, mostly from Singapore. After all, we were happy with the tour.
